We got Simon and Rudy (brothers from the same litter) to train in obedience and personal protection. They both have wonderful personalities, are friendly (like Will Rogers, they never met a man (or woman, for that matter) that they didn't like.) Yet, at the same time, they were hard as nails.

Simon lived with an evangelist, his wife and daughter

until he was almost 5 yrs old, at which time the preachers schedule precluded keeping Simon, and he came back to us.

We did some additional training with Simon to get him "street ready" and he is now a member Minneapolis Police Department. His handler has two little girls and after a hard day at work, Simon goes home and plays with them.

That department has a policy of putting dogs, even those who have had police training, through their own two-week course before allowing them to go on patrol. They got Simon and tested him the same day, and the next morning he was working on the street.

As part of their training, we teach our dogs to bite on command, just like a sit or down command, and also teach them not to bite, or to quit biting, on command.

Because of his great personality, in addition to Simon's patrol duties, they now use him as their exclusive public relations dog and he does all their demonstrations for them.

Dear Garland,

We love Sara.  She is a wonderful, gentle dog - also extremely smart! She knows everything we say.

Bill takes her for a walk every night.

You can see from the pictures how great she is with the grandchildren.

Take care,

Patty and Bill

Mr. Ford:
Just a note to tell you I am still in love with my Shepard.  At 7 months, if I go, we go.  He is too large to fit on the seat of my small pickup so I have redone the seat to fit him.  We are in middle Tennessee on a two week trip.
He is extremely well behaved.  Our only battle is not to chase the chickens at home.

He is my heart.  I will be in touch soon to ask you more training questions.

Thanks and your friend,

Linda Phillipy

Kanes Radiance von Robinwood
8 Weeks Old

In February 2004 I lost my 9 year old Doberman. I knew I would get another dog so I started my search. I had always loved the German Shepherd and owned a Shepherd Mix as a small child. I decided to search online and came across Robinwood Farms. After submitting an Inquiries Form Mr. Garland Ford contacted me and we went over what I wanted in a dog, and why I chose a German Shepherd. I wanted a dog for Schutzhund or Person Protection, yet loving since I had children. He sent me pictures of his litters and I chose an almost all black male puppy out of the Carla/Jake litter that I called Caesar.

At the time we were having problem with our fence and Garland was nice enough to hold on to him until April 10. He was 3 1/2 months old at this time. Saturday night on April 10th my friend and I drove to the Sacramento airport and anxiously waited for him to come off the plane. To my surprise when I open his crate instead of a little fur ball I got this big beautiful puppy with huge feet!

When we got home he settled in very nice. He was restless the first few nights but was very good about letting me know when he needed out.

I decided that the name Caesar didn't fit him and chose the name Kane which means "radiance" And to me he looked radiant! So his new registered name was Kanes Radiance von Robinwood. I also decided to train in protection instead of Schutzhund.

Kane is everything I wanted. He's doing great in Personal Protection training with my trainer Joel Monroe. He still has a ways to go but is doing great. He has excellent prey drive and is now working in defense. His almost all black coat is now showing more red now that he's maturing and he's beautiful!

I hope someday to be able to breed him to pass on his wonderful disposition and wonderful drives.

Onda von der Tannenburg

Hi German Shepherd-Friends!

My name is Stephanie and I'm from Germany. I spend the summer in USA, Virginia, of course with my German Shepherd. It is my first time in the USA and I love it! On the picture you can see my German Shepherd female 'Onda von der Tannenburg'. In Germany I do Schutzhund with her. I like your webside very much. Nice pictures of the dogs, and so on... I'm sure, I'm going to visit your page again.

Take care, best wishes

Stephanie

Dear Garland,
We love Bear. We have had 5 German Shepard's over the last 20 years and Bear is turning out to be the best one. He is a wonderful, gentle, and extremely smart dog! He loves to swim and play around with the kids while at the lake. On hot days he loves to sit in the lake water and just watch everything around him. I believe Bear thinks he is a person. I am waiting for the day he starts water skiing,

Take care,
Howard, Gale, Scott, and Samantha

Hi Garland, I took some picture of Lucky and finally figured out how to put them on my computer. I thought you might like to see them.. Lucky is very happy. He goes everywhere I go..He has the best personaliy of any dog I have ever seen! And what a clown! He even insists on riding with me on the fork lift. Everyone loves him that knows me.. I think there have even been times when Lucky steals the show when I am on stage...He is the only dog I know that goes on tour doing live on stage appearences.LOL ...Now if I could just get him to sing on key. I don't know if it helps or not..But I always mention you and your farm whem people comment on how nice a dog he is....I will explain how the dogs are bread and trained and how there is a lot more to it than meets the eye.

Well I hope you like the pictures. Please show them to your daughter and tell her that Lucky is doing very well and living like a king. I know she was very fond of him. Thanks again.

Take care and I'll talk to you soon...
